Lovely afternoon, but slightly breezy.

Had a shock today checking the Wardens Office for moths. I looked above the toilet door, and saw what I thought was a really large moth very high up. Decided I had no chance with the Macro Lens, so I fetched my long lens. When I looked at the image on my camera screen, It wasn’t a moth at all. But a very large Cockchafer/May Bug (Melolontha melolontha).

At this point I decided to ring Ken to see if he was interested in having a look. Ken said yes, so I also asked him if he could bring some step ladders or something to get higher on. Which Ken kindly did. But luckily while Ken was on his way, I found another lower down. This is my first ever sighting of this Very Large Beetle, and one of the most impressive beetles I have ever seen. So for that reason I will post most of the photos I took….

In the grass by the Wardens Office was this Micro Moth. Its a new one for my list and called a Knapweed Bell. Is it me or is the pattern on its back, like someone singing in a white tuxedo?…

Checked out the Bilberry today, in hope of seeing another Dingy Skipper. No luck with the Skipper. But I did see this Small Yellow Underwing enjoying some nectar from a Bilberry…

Loads of Midges over the Island Pool this afternoon…

Noticed today that the Green Tiger Beetles are looking a lot duller…

Not often you get a Buzzard and Swift in the same photo…

But you do quite often get photos of Buzzards and Carrion Crows in the same photo…

Staying over later today, got to see loads of Rabbits. I think it may have been the fact, that most of them were really young. Unlike this one, which looks well worn…

Just had some news off Alan. He saw the first Green Hairstreak yesterday!
