Wednesday…Beautiful blue skies, but a frosty -3ºC

Had an early morning walk over Highgate Common…followed by an afternoon trip to Belvide Reservoir.

A noisy Rook flew over the SWT office , while I looked for moths. Only one Winter Moth.

This Lesser Black-backed Gull had been feeding on some discarded food thrown on the Birch Coppice car park. It flew off when I opened my car window….

Bullfinch near the Island Pool…

Tried the video function on my camera with this hovering Kestrel…

Belvide Reservoir

I had hoped that the Grey Phalarope would stay for another day, but I guess the freezing conditions moved it on. So it turned out to be a quiet afternoon for Belvide. Black-headed Gull…

Water Rail was in the West Marsh…

Good numbers of Wigeon were on the bund at the west end…

The Red Head Smew (Distant) was still by the Dam…

Overall not a very exciting day, but the type of conditions I love to have a walk on the wild side.
